Picture an ordinary morning
Before choosing cabinet fronts, imagine making breakfast. Where do you take out ingredients, put down dishes and slice bread? Plan worktop space where you will actually use it.
Store things where you use them
Dishes near the dishwasher, spices within reach of the hob and coffee beside the machine. This arrangement reduces unnecessary movement. Fit shelf heights to the people using the kitchen, rather than a catalogue photograph.
Give each light a purpose
General lighting illuminates the room but may not be enough at the worktop. Position task lighting so that you do not block it with your body while preparing food.
Leave room for change
Needs change over time. Adjustable shelves and accessible storage let a kitchen adapt without replacing every cabinet. Think about cleaning and caring for the materials too.
